Did you create your own picky eater?

Are we creating picky eaters?

Even when we feed babies, we say, my kid doesnt like this food. And then we stop offering.

I challenge you to change that phrase to "my kid doesnt like this today"...dont make a big deal out of it, and keep offering every few weeks.

If you call your kid a picky eater - this will manifest to  be true - this is identity shaping talk.

If your kid is a picky eater in this season of his life, then just see it as temporary.

Instead of saying, he is picky, just say, he only likes select things right now.

Picky eating doesn’t have to be permanent - he could be picky this week, but not next week. The more he hears you label him as a “picky eater”, the more he’ll think people will keep catering to his pickiness, the more he will identify as a picky eater.

Don't create your own monster.

In America, you see moms cooking three different dinners, catering to each kids' needs and then a separate dinner for their husband and them.

You would never see that happen in Europe, or many other countries. Dinner is dinner. If your kid doesn't want to eat what's in front of him, then they can go to bed hungry.

What do you think? Am I being too harsh?
